The Our Youth, Inc. Tutoring Program is an after-school educational enrichment program for at-risk kids who are in first through twelfth grade. Students in this program are from the Southbridge area of Wilmington and surrounding areas. The tutoring program provides youth with a safe, positive, and stimulating environment to explore learning and experience academic and personal success. Volunteers are the heart of the program. They work with individual or pairs of students. In addition to offering academic support, volunteers are friends and role models to the students. In the OYI tutoring program students build skills in reading and math, get help with homework, and strengthen their sense of self-esteem and self-respect. Slow paced and special learning techniques are offered when needed.
Students are wonderfully diverse, representing many nationalities and cultures. The tutoring is offered at 1213 B. Street, Wilmington, DE 19801. Computers with Internet capability are available for the student's to use.
